One of the series of seascapes done under the mentorship of the renowned Chinese Artist, Han Bing Hua. The starting point was a semi abstract painting called ‘Backsplash’. I developed the theme of the movement of water through several paintings of which this is one - on a large half imperial sheet if Arches archival watercolour paper.
Each painting was an experiment in trust – of paints with pigments of different weights that reacted on the paper when different amounts of water was applied. I had an idea of what would result, but there were many happy surprises along the way!
